Alexander Sonesson, DMD
Dr. Alexander Sonesson grew up in Svedala, Sweden with his older brother and parents. After graduating high school, he was recruited to play NCAA Division I Collegiate Tennis at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California. He completed his B.S. in Biology in 2012 and then attended Oregon Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Sonesson was involved in microbiology research linking specific dental plaque pathogens and cardiovascular disease. He also volunteered his time and organized events in conjunction with Medical Teams International to provide dental care to underprivileged patients. Upon graduation, the faculty elected him into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society for high scholastic achievement. Following Dental School, Dr. Sonesson practiced General Dentistry in Eugene, Oregon until pursuing his specialty training.
Dr. Sonesson completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York City. His training encompassed full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with emphasis on dentoalveolar surgery, bone grafting, implantology, corrective and reconstructive jaw surgery, maxillofacial trauma, intravenous sedation and general anesthesia.
Outside the office, Dr. Sonesson enjoys an active life including hiking with his wife Laura and dog Fibi, traveling, cycling, running, playing tennis and golf.
